They posed as “Messianic” Christian “experts” trying to educate the believers in studying the Bible from the Hebrew language. They sometimes conduct free seminars in teaching how to study and understand the Old Testament. No! They are not Jews who became Christians but they claim to be “Christians” who are non-Jews wanting to apply the Jewish religious rituals and ceremonies into the world of Christianity. Their aim is not really to educate the gullible believers but to convert them into their religious worldview, that is, a cult group.

They are cult groups that are so dogmatic with regards to the name of God. They will argue that there is only one name where we can call God which are Yahushua, Yehushua, Yahshua, Yehusha, Yahusha, Yehovah, Yahuah, among others while giving the Son of God just lip service.

It is true that the personal divine name of God in the Scripture was written in tetragrammaton, that is, YHWH. However, the Scribes incorporated the vowels from the name Adonai into the tetragrammaton which eventually became YAHWEH. If you want to be strict, then there is no way for anybody to mention the name of God, not even Paul himself. It’s good to know that the New Testament writers manage to utilized the Greek translation of the New Testament produced by the Hebrew scribes so the young generation of their time would not forget their belief, customs, and traditions.

Today, there are so many cults that degrade and pulls down the identity of Jesus Christ. Haven’t you wonder why the spiritual enemy is attacking the identity of the Son by saying He is a “creature” while the Father alone is the Creator? 

Only by believing in Jesus who is the Creator can save a person, not a “creature Jesus” created by His Father. Jesus Himself said that if a person does not believe who He was, the self-existent and the self-sustaining Creator being, then his soul will surely merit eternal damnation

“Therefore, I said to you that you will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I Am, you will die in your sins.” – John 8:24, Literal Version  

This divine claim of Jesus was heard by Moses himself when he was summoned by God whom many church fathers believed is a pre-incarnate manifestation of Jesus Christ, that is, Christophany. The Lord Jesus Christ claimed to be the “I Am” which is the divine name proclaimed by Yahweh in many parts of the Old Testament. 

God said to Moses, “I am who I am.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel, ‘I am has sent me to you.'” – Exodus 3:14 

Why will the spiritual enemy do everything he can for every individual to avoid the name “Jesus” while assuming of glorifying the divine name of God? This is no surprise because the name that was given to mankind for their salvation is none other than the name Jesus. And once they degrade or mock this name that is above every name then they are putting their eternal future in jeopardy.   

“And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” – Acts 4:12

“Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” – Philippians 2:9-11

How do you feel if somebody dishonors your child? Do you think you will feel happy about it? The same feeling will also be felt by the Father to those who disgrace, degrades, and debased the identity of His Son, Jesus Christ. Remember, if a person attacks His Son in any way He is dishonoring the Father.

“The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. that all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.” – John 5:22-23 

Let us not be deceived by this sacred name cult movements. They are preaching another Jesus, a different gospel, and a different spirit. 

For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough. – 2 Corinthians 11:4

Many have a false understanding of the name Jesus which they thought originated from the name “Hail Zeus!” This is not true but a fabrication. No history can attest to this conspiracy theory. The “sacred name” cults just came up with this story by committing the fallacy of parallelism. The English name Jesus is an Anglicized form of the Greek term “Iesous” which means Yahweh saves. There is nothing wrong with translating the names into another language as long as we remain faithful to its etymology. After all, it’s not the name in itself that is more important but the Person who owns the name. In fact, there are also others who carry the name “Jesus” but it doesn’t mean they are at par with Jesus Himself. Even the demons know exactly the Jesus whom they fear the most.

When they had gone through the whole island as far as Paphos, they came upon a certain magician, a Jewish false prophet named Bar-Jesus. – Acts 13:6

But the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I recognize, but who are you?” – Acts 19:15

Do you remember how Saul the persecutor addressed the owner of the voice when he saw a great light on his way to Damascus? He labeled Him “Yahweh,” the divine Hebrew counterpart of the Greek term “Kyrios,” that is, Lord. In the mind of Saul there was no other Being that could speak to him in that way other than the God he worships as a former Jewish Pharisee. And when he asked the divine Being behind the voice whom he addressed as Lord, that is Yahweh, as to who He was, He revealed Himself to be Jesus. As Paul narrates,

And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’And I answered, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And he said to me, ‘I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting.’ – Acts 22:7-8

If a person continues to resist this truth revealed by the Holy Spirit about Jesus Christ then he is blaspheming the Person of the Holy Spirit. After all, its the Holy Spirit who glorifies and honors Jesus by saying Jesus is Lord or Jesus is Yahweh!

Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. – Matthew 12:31

Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus is accursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit. – 1 Corinthians 12:3
